Botnia Ventures Oy

Botnia Ventures Oy is bringing a new approach for a public-private co-operation to support Start-Up and Growth Companies in the region. This is a new working model that connects start-ups, local entrepreneurs and local, national and even global investors together.

Botnia Ventures Oy will work in close co-operation with Universities, other educational institutions and local and regional development companies to build the Botnia Start-Up Network. This activity will be promoting and supporting early stage development and identification of the start-ups and smaller growth companies in the region. 

We are building up an Advisory Network to support us in this work. Our main partners in this activity are Ostrobothnia Chamber of Commerce, Vasek, Vaasa University and Hanken, But we are inviting all interested institutions and individuals in the region to this work.

 

Important part of the Botnia Ventures approach is to provide early and growth phase funding for the new start-up and corporate spin-off initiatives. This would be done trough a regional investment fund bringing together local public and private investors in Botnia Venture Fund I.

Venture Studio

Venture Studio is a CO-FOUNDER, PARTNER and INVESTOR aiming at being a catalyst in building initially selected start-ups from the ground up with help of extended partner and advisory network.

The working model of the Venture Studio, is to develop the idea behind the company and gradually provide funding. The focus is on using economy of scale in growing companies by creating synergies from the repetitive nature of high growth company development.

Venture Studio provides a modular approach based on proven methods to support the transformation of an idea into a viable business. 

Venture Studio provides the support of the Advisory Network which is formed from the expertise in and around Ostrobothnia: Universities, Institutions, Local Companies, Entrepreneurs, Investors and Expert Advisers.

Venture Studio facilitates funding rounds from Botnia Venture Fund and other private and public capital sources also outside the region. For later state funding Botnia Ventures is building a network of potential investors outside the region.

Botnia Venture Fund I

  • Initial target is 3,0 to 5,0 Million EUR. Limited partner minimum commitment 50.000 €. Investment Period 5 years. Call for investments are made when investments decision is made.
  • Investments go to Start-ups, spin-offs and growth companies with positive economic impact on Ostrobothnian area. Preferably Ostrobothnian presence in a way or other.
  • Typical first investment to the companies is 20k€ – 150k€.
  • Investment period 5 years. Exit target 5-8 years.
  • Investors are public investors: Cities, Municipalities, Universities, Public Funds or Private investors: Local Companies, Insurance Companies, Private Funds, Wealthy Private Individuals. Target is to have about 50%/50% public and private investors
  • Legal form is Limited partnership (=Ky) owned by the investors. Investors are Limited Partners. General Partners is a limited company BVF Oy owned by Botnia Ventures Oy
